After feedback and further prototype development i have a final paper prototype plan which includes the screens i will use, the assets, when and how they will appear and the basic order it will all happen.
above (amoung all those scribbles that is my handwriting) is the final journey plan i followed when creating and filming my final paper prototype, and all the many attempts that lead up to it.
Its not an easy task explaining to non-design students that coloured card/paper, scissors, prit-stick, blutac and other arts and crafts supplies (normally found in a primary school) are very grown up and essential to complete your university assignment.
What the opening screen will look like.
testing placement, tilted version of the opposing crests
testing placement, closer together version of the crests
I found the more screens i added the more they got stuck when i recorded the prototype.
To allow the final prototype to work in planned order during one full recording i found it easier to elevate the TV themed boarder, allowing easier movements of the paper screens and assets.
screen one with the first moving asset (non constant-pitch layout info)
screen one with all the constant assets
a behind the scenes visual.
To help move the paper screens and assets, i began to attach tabs that would help drag the assets accordingly.
labeling them cut out on mistakes and helped keep the timing right on the final prototype recording.
During feedback it was agreed the colours helped identify which were constant and non constant assets and the prototype recorded with the tabs helped exclude most of the usual fumbling hands on screen every time something needed moved, and left the final recording smoother and more professional looking.
From here my paper prototyping is over and its proved very useful in planning and assessing what all needs worked on and has given me the foundation work to begin creating and further developing the assets in photoshop.
