initial ideas

Personal logo!
now didnt i say logo design was a big deal in this module, have to admit i was right for once.
This may be a small task to get us started for the final project, easing us into graphics for print and get our minds on the right tack and all that other fine studious stuff. but for me personally i want to take this opportunity to actually create a presence for myself as a designer. Its something ive been interested in doing during my non existent free time.
A unique personal logo that i could use for now or for years upon years to come, would definitely be an amazing thing to have at this point, especially considering commission work and placement opportunities seem to be the thing on everybodys mind these days.

Below are just a few sketches i started with in class.... yes i am a very messy sketcher, but its how i work, dont worry the final product shouldnt be as crazy looking.

As you can see i focused mainly on my name, like most logos i tried to create something stylish and unique, but my name is rather boring and even long, so there doesnt seem to be much to do with it so far.
I experimented slightly with the initials of my name CD, instinctively when creating a more visual approach (less type more logo) i tried making my name into a compact disc (CD) thinking ahead, at how how it could be reflective, or rainbow like, the material/colours would be a major aspect of this particular design if i was to develop it further.

Whilst designing all these personal logos i thought, these arent as personal as they should bee, yes im creating a nice little logo/initial/type, but are they really me? i want this personal logo to promote not the letters C and D but me, as a designer, what i do, what i can do, what i want to do.
This is something i will need to spend a good deal of time looking more into what i want the logo to include rather than jumping ahead to what i want it to include.
